RapidStill II. Provides automatic steam distillation for macro Kjeldahl nitrogen determinations. Compactly designed to fit on bench top. Each distillation takes five to ten minutes. Frame is constructed of epoxy-coated steel.
Features: 1000-watt boiler heating element that surrounds 1000 ml flask to generate steam; boiler heater switch that activates the boiler heating element; boiler water switch that fills the 1000 ml flask with water; built-in sodium hydroxide switch that allows you to safely control the amount of caustic to be added; PTFE inlet tubes for sodium hydroxide and steam; distribution head that acts as a junction for the steam and NaOH delivery tubes and prevents the NaOH from entering the receiving flask; a combination Allihn and spiral condenser for efficient recovery of the distillate; condenser ventilation valve that prevents siphoning of distillate back into the condenser chamber; flow restrictor that prevents the cooling water flow rate to the condenser from exceeding 1.0 gallon per minute (3.8 liters per minute); spring-loaded digestion tube retainer for holding the tube during distillation; infinitely adjustable 0-15 minute distillation timer switch that controls the dispensing of steam into the digestion tube, automatically shuts off the distillation process and is interlocked to function only when the boiler heater is on; sight gauge for monitoring water level in the flask; safety cover that protects the condenser; safety door that surrounds the digestion tube; and 8-foot, 3-wire cord with plug. Includes a molded tray to catch spills.
